The fortress is situated at the confluence of the Acharistsqali and Agaristsqali rivers, 5 km from the main road. Its primary function was to control the Acharistsqali Valley and the routes running along the Agaristsqali River. It is a small, inaccessible fortress; built atop a high hill, it can be reached via only a single path. The northern and southern walls remain, along with a portion of the upper eastern wall. Inside the fortress, remnants of structures serving various purposes have survived. Based on the existing ruins, it appears that a tower—likely at least two stories high—was built at the highest point; the upper section of this tower has collapsed. Sections of the defensive wall are preserved in the northern and southern areas. The masonry style and the presence of loopholes suggest the fortress dates back to the Late Middle Ages.
