Batumi attracts its visitors with many beautiful places of interest. One of them is Alphabet Tower, whose construction, located in the northern part of Boulevard by the Cape, undoubtedly draws attention to its singularity. In 2016, along with 14 other alphabets, UNESCO inscribed the Georgian language on the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The alphabet tower is 130 meters high, similar to the DNA model metal construction, holding consecutively placed, bent, round-shaped Mkhedruli script letters of the modern Georgian alphabet.
The 33-letter modern Georgian alphabet is one of the original scripts in the world. Throughout their long and challenging history, Georgians produced three scripts, proving the uniqueness of their nation. Alphabet Tower presents a striking example of singularity and uniqueness with its unconventional form and architecture that showcases Georgian characters.
October 10, 2010, marked the beginning of its construction, which ended in December 2011. CMD Ingenieros, a Spanish company, and architect Alberto Domingo Cabo performed the construction project.
The tower is the ideal spot to take in the expansive views of the city, including the sea and mountain regions, especially at sunset, because of its distinctive architecture and practical location.
On the top two floors of the Alphabet Tower are an observation deck and a restaurant. There is an elevator and stairs leading to the top. The tower has one of the longest pedestrian staircases in Batumi.
