The fortress is situated in the village of Tsikhisdziri, on the main road. This historical-archaeological complex is located in the village of Tsikhisdziri, within the Kobuleti Municipality. Petra was built in the 6th century by order of Emperor Justinian. The fortified city was distinguished by its unique military-strategic and trade-economic location. A route passed through the Petra-Tsikhisdziri area, connecting the eastern Black Sea coast with the central regions of Georgia, Byzantium, Armenia, and Persia.
