Life above the clouds

If other cultures and lifestyles are of interest and value to you, if you intend to learn about new places to travel, then this post was written specifically for you.

The nature and culture of Adjara attract at any time of the year, even in places where, at first glance, nothing interesting happens. However, if you climb even the highest mountain, you will find that life is in full swing there.

Every year, during a certain period, villagers drive herds to the high alpine pastures called "yailas". Life at this time acquires a completely different dynamic, bringing whole families to the mountains. For several months spent in yailas, local residents graze livestock and prepare dairy products.

These places are far from the outside world. There are no supermarkets here, which means that products are different. In the mountains, all food is natural, grown and cooked by the villagers. Here you will escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and live like a local the natural way.

The villagers are very hospitable. Do not be surprised if you are invited to drink a cup of coffee or try some local dish. Do not miss this chance and be sure to agree to try everything that is offered to you!

Here, everything happens at the same time: adults doing their work, children running around the meadows and invent all sorts of toys for themselves.

Take the opportunity to rise above the clouds and learn more about life in the mountains of Adjara!
